Alternative Tourism Group-Study Center (ATG) in Beit Sahour has launched a new and free application to be used on Apple devices to promote tourism easily among tourists who would like to know more about Palestine. The application, entitled Palestine and Palestinians, is available for download from the App Store for iPads and iPhones using the new IOS 7, aims to give tourists all the information they need about Palestine and Palestinians.
The App, divided into three main sections, Information, Map, and Library, has a diversity of information. The first section is divided into general information, practical information, and tours. General information includes topics such as Palestinian geography and nature, culture, history, and modern history, as well as Palestinian society. The practical information section is geared to tourists before and during their stay in Palestine, and addresses such topics as money, banks, and change; transportation; travel; the economy; communications; medical services; accommodations; language; and telephone codes.
The map section is a very important tool because it sheds light on 14 different cities, giving details and background information about each city: places to see, things to do, people to meet, places to eat, and places to sleep, as well as a gallery of pictures and a zoom-able map of each city.
The App, which can work offline after it is downloaded, can be used at any time to provide tourists and locals alike with all the information they need while visiting various areas and sites.
This is a first-of-a-kind application for the Palestinian tourism sector, and we are open to your suggestions, comments, and inquiries.
