On Tuesday 8 April, 2014, at 7:00 PM, the Alternative Information Center (AIC) invites you for Alternative Tourism in Palestine and the new ATG iPhone application with Dafer Kassis.
Alternative tours are crucial for bringing people into contact with Palestinian reality, for giving them both information and learning experiences that heighten their understanding of the conflict. Critical tours allow the Palestinians to present their own views and culture, and allow visitors to draw their own conclusions.
To what are alternative tours an alternative? Can tours further a just and viable peace in the region? Can a plurality of voices be presented in a way that informs and doesn't further mystify the situation in Palestine?
Alternative Tourism Group-Study Center (ATG) in Beit Sahour has launched a new and free application to be used on Apple devices to promote tourism easily among tourists who would like to know more about Palestine. The application, entitled "Palestine and Palestinians", is available for download from the App Store for iPads and iPhones using the new IOS 7, aims to give tourists all the information they need about Palestine and Palestinians.
The App, divided into three main sections, Information, Map, and Library, has a diversity of information.
Dafer Kassis is the Advocacy Officer at the Alternative Tourism Group-Study Center.

It is located in the Alternative Information Center in Beit Sahour, close to Suq Sha'ab (follow the sign to Jadal Center ). We have a small library with novels, political books and magazines. We also have a number of films in DVD copies and AIC publications which critically analyze both the Palestinian and Israeli societies as well as the conflict itself.
